The HSC BUG is the Bicycle User Group at Health Sciences Center in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This web site is a collection of information relevant to people using active transportation at HSC.

Security

One concern with riding a bike to HSC is secure bike parking.

Theft and Vandalism
Have you had your bike stolen, damaged or vandalized while parked at HSC? Let us know so we can add information about troublespots to this web page.
We are hoping to collaborate with security on this topic in the future.

HSC Security
If your bike is subject to theft or vandalism while parked at HSC, please contact HSC Security how. They may not be able to help you fix any current damage, but notifying them allows HSC to track problems. When problems start to show up on reports they become much more likely to be addressed.

Video Surveillance
Some of the bike racks at HSC are in areas with video surveillance. Does anyone know more about which areas, and which parts of these areas?

Bikes taken into custody by security
If HSC Security interrupts a theft of a bicycle, and the bike is no longer secured, then they will take the bike to one of the secure compounds. If your bike is not where you expect it, contact security.

HSC Bicycle Policy
The HSC Bicycle policy as provided by security is as follows:
"The parking, placing or securing of bicycles in or to any part of the Health Sciences Centre buildings, property or equipment other than the bicycle stands provided for this purpose is prohibited. All bicycles must be secured in the stands provided."
If security finds a bike locked to any unapproved structure, they may attach a note with a warning and quoting this policy to the bike. If the bike is not moved, they will remove the bike and lock it up in one of the bike compounds.

Secure Bike Parking
See our Bike Parking page for secure bike parking options at HSC.
